“Nov. 2, 2001, 12:00 PST — On Oct. 31 the French daily Le Figaro dropped a bombshell. While in a Dubai hospital receiving treatment for a chronic kidney infection last July, Osama bin Laden met with a top CIA official — presumably the chief of station. The meeting, held in bin Laden’s private suite, took place at the American hospital in Dubai at a time when he was a wanted fugitive for the bombings of two U.S. embassies and last year’s attack on the USS Cole. Bin Laden was eligible for execution according to a 2000 intelligence finding issued by President Bill Clinton before leaving office in January. Yet on July 14, 2001 he was allowed to leave Dubai on a private jet, and there were no Navy fighters waiting to force him down.”

Back to Michael: “Now, let’s go back to the Oct. 31 story by Le Figaro — the one that has Osama bin Laden meeting with a CIA officer in Dubai in July 2001.

The story says, “Throughout his stay in the hospital, Osama Bin Laden received visits from many family members [There goes the story that he’s a black sheep! — MCR] and Saudi Arabian Emirate personalities of status. During this time the local representative of the CIA was seen by many people taking the elevator and going to bin Laden’s room.

“Several days later the CIA officer bragged to his friends about having visited the Saudi millionaire. From authoritative sources, this CIA agent visited CIA headquarters on July 15, the day after bin Laden’s departure for Quetta.

“According to various Arab diplomatic sources and French intelligence itself, precise information was communicated to the CIA concerning terrorist attacks aimed at American interests in the world, including its own territory.

“Extremely bothered, they American intelligence officers in a meeting with French intelligence officers requested from their French peers exact details about the Algerian activists connected to bin Laden through Dubai banking institutions, without explaining the exact nature of their inquiry. When asked the question, What do you fear in the coming days?’ the Americans responded with incomprehensible silence.

“On further investigation, the FBI discovered certain plans that had been put together between the CIA and its ‘Islamic friends’ over the years. The meeting in Dubai is, so it would seem, consistent with ‘a certain American policy.'”

Even though Le Figaro reported that it had confirmed with hospital staff that bin Laden had been there as reported, stories printed on Nov. 1 contained quotes from hospital staff that these reports were untrue. On Nov. 1, as reported by the Ananova press agency, the CIA flatly denied that any meeting between any CIA personnel and Osama bin Laden at any time.

Now let’s move to May 4, 2011 and The Alex Jones Show. Alex’s guest is Dr. Steve Pieczenik. Sisters, Mr. Paul Watson wrote a synopsis of their conversation. Paul: “Top US government insider Dr. Steve R. Pieczenik, a man who held numerous different influential positions under three different Presidents and still works with the Defense Department, shockingly told The Alex Jones Show yesterday that Osama Bin Laden died in 2001 and that he was prepared to testify in front of a grand jury how a top general told him directly that 9/11 was a false flag inside job.

Pieczenik cannot be dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist”. He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under three different administrations, pratt Nixon, bilderberg Ford and trilateral Carter, while also working under owl Reagan and trilateral Bush senior, and still works as a consultant for the Department of Defense. A former US Navy Captain, Pieczenik achieved two prestigious Harry C. Solomon Awards at the Harvard Medical School as he simultaneously completed a PhD at MIT.

Recruited by Lawrence Eagleburger as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Management, Pieczenik went on to develop, “the basic tenets for psychological warfare, counter terrorism, strategy and tactics for transcultural negotiations for the US State Department, military and intelligence communities and other agencies of the US Government,” while also developing foundational strategies for hostage rescue that were later employed around the world.

Pieczenik also served as a senior policy planner under Secretaries Henry bilderberg Kissinger, Cyrus trilateral Vance, George bilderberg Schultz and James bilderberg Baker and worked on George W. skull Bush’s election campaign against Al bilderberg Gore. His record underscores the fact that he is one of the most deeply connected men in intelligence circles over the past three decades.

Back in April 2002, over nine years ago, Pieczenik told The Alex Jones Show that Bin Laden had already been “dead for months,” and that the government was waiting for the most politically expedient time to roll out his corpse. Pieczenik would be in a position to know, having personally met Bin Laden and worked with him during the proxy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan back in the early 80′s.

Pieczenik said that Osama Bin Laden died in 2001, “Not because special forces had killed him, but because as a physician I had known that the CIA physicians had treated him and it was on the intelligence roster that he had marfan syndrome,” adding that the US government knew Bin Laden was dead before they invaded Afghanistan.

Marfan syndrome is a degenerative genetic disease for which there is no permanent cure. The illness severely shortens the life span of the sufferer.

“He died of marfan syndrome, Bush junior knew about it, the intelligence community knew about it,” said Pieczenik, noting how CIA physicians had visited Bin Laden in July 2001 at the American Hospital in Dubai.

“He was already very sick from marfan syndrome and he was already dying, so nobody had to kill him,” added Pieczenik, stating that Bin Laden died shortly after 9/11 in his Tora Bora cave complex.

“Did the intelligence community or the CIA doctor up this situation, the answer is yes, categorically yes,” said Pieczenik, referring to Sunday’s claim that Bin Laden was killed at his compound in Pakistan, adding, “This whole scenario where you see a bunch of people sitting there looking at a screen and they look as if they’re intense, that’s nonsense,” referring to the images released by the White House which claim to show Biden, Obama and Hillary Clinton watching the operation to kill Bin Laden live on a television screen.

“It’s a total make-up, make believe, we’re in an American theater of the absurd….why are we doing this again….nine years ago this man was already dead….why does the government repeatedly have to lie to the American people,” asked Pieczenik.

“Osama Bin Laden was totally dead, so there’s no way they could have attacked or confronted or killed Osama Bin laden,” said Pieczenik, joking that the only way it could have happened was if special forces had attacked a mortuary.

Pieczenik said that the decision to launch the hoax now was made because Obama had reached a low with plummeting approval ratings and the fact that the birther issue was blowing up in his face.

“He had to prove that he was more than American….he had to be aggressive,” said Pieczenik, adding that the farce was also a way of isolating Pakistan as a retaliation for intense opposition to the Predator drone program, which has killed hundreds of Pakistanis.

“This is orchestrated, I mean when you have people sitting around and watching a sitcom, basically the operations center of the White House, and you have a president coming out almost zombie-like telling you they just killed Osama Bin Laden who was already dead nine years ago,” said Pieczenik, calling the episode, “the greatest falsehood I’ve ever heard, I mean it was absurd.”

Dismissing the government’s account of the assassination of Bin Laden as a “sick joke” on the American people, Pieczenik said, “They are so desperate to make Obama viable, to negate the fact that he may not have been born here, any questions about his background, any irregularities about his background, to make him look assertive….to re-elect this president so the American public can be duped once again.”

Pieczenik’s assertion that Bin Laden died almost ten years ago is echoed by numerous intelligence professionals as well as heads of state across the world.

Bin Laden, “Was used in the same way that 9/11 was used to mobilize the emotions and feelings of the American people in order to go to a war that had to be justified through a narrative that Bush junior created and Cheney created about the world of terrorism,” stated Pieczenik.

During his interview with the Alex Jones Show yesterday, Pieczenik also asserted he was directly told by a prominent general that 9/11 was a stand down and a false flag operation, and that he is prepared to go to a grand jury to reveal the general’s name.

“They ran the attacks,” said Pieczenik, naming Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Stephen Hadley, Elliott Abrams, and Condoleezza Rice amongst others as having been directly involved.

“It was called a stand down, a false flag operation in order to mobilize the American public under false pretenses….it was told to me even by the general on the staff of Wolfowitz – I will go in front of a federal committee and swear on perjury who the name was of the individual so that we can break it open,” said Pieczenik, adding that he was “furious” and “knew it had happened”.

“I taught stand down and false flag operations at the national war college, I’ve taught it with all my operatives so I knew exactly what was done to the American public,” he added.

Pieczenik re-iterated that he was perfectly willing to reveal the name of the general who told him 9/11 was an inside job in a federal court, “so that we can unravel this thing legally, not with the stupid 9/11 Commission that was absurd.”

Pieczenik explained that he was not a liberal, a conservative or a tea party member, merely an American who is deeply concerned about the direction in which his country is heading.” End quote.

Dr. Pieczenik has broken ranks with the pratt house, the last time I checked, which was earlier this year, Steve was no longer a member. That by itself should tell AMERICANS all They need to know about the council on foreign relations.

When Saddam Hussein was found in an underground burrow in Iraq, he was hauled out, put on trial and hung. Video of his hanging was posted on the internet.

As to Osama bin Laden – one of the first excuses about why he hadn’t been found until then – he had very few electrical devises in his home that the “intelligence agencies” could monitor. I also read Our government said bin Laden wore a “cowboy hat” while outside which hindered the ability of satellites to identify him. I laughed at that one as Osama would have been the only man in Pakistan wearing a cowboy hat. And then there’s how did nsa and cia etc. know he was wearing a cowboy hat?

Bottom line – if Osama bin Laden was captured as the official story goes, then why wasn’t his body put on display for the Globe to see? Brass tacks neither the Iraqi government or U.S. government had any qualms about putting Saddam on display.

Alex, I Respect Dr. Pieczenik for coming forward, but I also know Steve is holding back. He won’t mention the bones pack and Steve has been way too complimentary of bilderberg in 2013, retired gen. David pratt rat, cia director Petraeus. Steve the years I’ve spent tracking wolves has taught me a few things. Including the position “director-central intelligence” is most times reserved for the scum of the Earth. Three examples: Allen former pratt house president, warren commission Dulles; George skull, former pratt house director Bush sr. and George director-central intelligence on 9/11, pratt, trilateral wolf Tenet.

Clear Thinkers one of the most important goals of the secret societies was announced on television when on May 21, 2009 Barack was howling for legislation to enact indefinite detention. Rachel Maddow breaks down Obama’s speech, “We will incarcerate people preventively. Preventive incarceration. Indefinite detention without trial, that’s what this is. That’s what president Obama proposed today if you strip away the euphemisms. One civil liberties advocate told the New York Times: “We’ve known this was on the horizon for many years. But we were able to hold off George Bush. The idea that we might find ourselves fighting the Obama administration over these powers is really stunning.” And it is stunning, particularly to hear president Obama claim the power to keep people in prison indefinitely with no charges against them. No conviction, no sentence, just imprisonment. It’s particularly stunning to make that claim in the middle of a speech that was all about the ‘rule of law’.”

As to the aclu, both Sir Antony Sutton and Mrs. Charlotte Iserbyt write the crooked aclu came to be because of funding provided by the skull & bones Pinchot brothers. Folks what are the two words the aclu’s lawyers hate the most – the BIBLE and JESUS. After President Thomas Jefferson’s Second Inaugural Address on March 4th 1805, Thomas offered a National Prayer of Peace. For the benefit of the aclu We should read President Jefferson’s last two paragraphs:

“Endow with Thy Spirit of Wisdom those to whom in Thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy Law, we may show forth Thy Praise among the nations of the earth.

In time of trouble fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail: all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.”

On January 1st 1802 while President, Jefferson wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association to calm their fears the federal government was going to choose one Christian denomination as the “state” denomination. Thomas wrote: “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.”

You don’t need to be nuclear physicist to figure out why the words: “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” have been covered over by the bones founded american historical association and the aclu.

AMERICA if the aclu was the least bit honorable, they would ask former senator Obama or his Chicago council directing wife to hold a press conference and recite the entire the U.S. Senate’s March 3, 1863 Resolution: “… and at the same time deploring the national offenses which have provoked His righteous judgment, yet encouraged in this day of trouble by the assurance of His Word, to seek Him for succor according to His appointed way, through Jesus Christ, the Senate of the United States does hereby request the President of the United States, by this proclamation, to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation.” (Lincoln signed it on March 30.)

Myself, I believe Americans have the Right to Know the House of Representative declared in May 1954: “The great vital and conservative element in our system is the belief of our people in the pure doctrines and divine truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

How many Americans are aware in 1904, the Congress authorized “the printing of 9,000 copies of Thomas Jefferson’s Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, as the same appears in the National Archives; 3,000 copies for the use of the Senate and 6,000 copies for the use of the House.” (Apparently the rats and skanks didn’t read it.)

Two paragraphs from The Jefferson Memorial in Washington. Mr. Jefferson wrote them: “Almighty God hath created the mind free. All attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burdens are a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion.”

And: “Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the Book of Life than that these people are to be free.”

Another Hidden Fact: when Mr. Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, Thomas included freeing all slaves regardless of their color. Blacks, Mr. Jefferson’s idea was opposed, primarily by delegates from New York and Massachusetts. Why New York and Massachusetts? Those states harbored most of the slave ships sailing to and from Africa where Africans had practiced slavery for centuries, which goes a long way in explaining why so few Negros wanted to return to Africa after Lincoln’s un-civil war. An illegal war fought over and tariffs/taxes and State Rights.

Let’s look at “black rule” through the only time I’ve read where Obama told the Truth; he was in Italy in 2009 at the G-8 summit. Barack: “My cousin in Kenya can’t find a job without paying a bribe, and that’s not the fault of the G-8. And when companies can’t operate without paying, in some parts of Africa, without paying the 25% fee off the top in bribes, that’s not colonialism.”

Before returning to Lincoln, by far the Most Honest Statement about “modern day black rule” was made by the Director of Tears of the Sun, Mr. Antonie Fugua who is black, during His Commentary. Antoine: I’ve been to Africa, man. I see how fucked up it is. 

Ask the american historical association why Lincoln’s first inaugural address isn’t available in say a Jr. High or High School history book? Answer it would be a 100% contradiction to the claim Lincoln is “the great emancipator.” Abraham Lincoln on March 4, 1861: “… Apprehension seems to exist among the people of the Southern States, that by the accession of a Republican Administration, their property, and their peace, and personal security, are to be endangered. There has never been any reasonable cause for such apprehension. Indeed, the most ample evidence to the contrary has all the while existed, and been open to their inspection. It is found in nearly all the published speeches of him who now addresses you. I do but quote from one of those speeches when I declare that “I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.” Those who nominated and elected me did so with full knowledge that I had made this, and many similar declarations, and had never recanted them. …”

Three different writers have noted only 5 percent of white Southerners were slave owners and two of those writers have penned 25 percent of free black Southerners were slave owners. Those statistics are based on the information contained in the 1860 U.S. census.

Another point a black is the father of slavery here in AMERICA. A point left out of the discussions during “Black History Month”.

One paragraph from a letter written to the New Orleans’ Daily Delta by Louisiana’s free blacks in April 1861:

“The free colored population love their home, their property, their own slaves and recognize no other country than Louisiana, and are ready to shed their blood for her defense. They have no sympathy for Abolitionism; no love for the North, but they have plenty for Louisiana.” (Hmm, their own slaves.) Folks it would behoove wanna be reverends with the last names Jackson, Dyson, Cone, Farrahkan, Lowery, Wright and Sharpton to put that in their pipes and smoke on it awhile. Frederick Douglas – September 1861: “…there are at the present moment many colored men in the Confederate Army as real soldiers, having muskets on their shoulders, and bullets in their pockets, ready to shoot down loyal troops, and do all that soldiers may do to destroy the Federal government… There were such soldiers at Manassas and they are probably there still.”

From the “Editor’s Choice News Article” under the heading: Attack on Our Soldiers by Armed Negroes as published in the Sandusky Registry (Ohio) newspaper on Dec. 31st 1861:

“A member of the Indiana Twentieth Regiment, now encamped near Fortress Monroe, writes to the Indianapolis Journal on the 23rd.

Yesterday morning General Mansfield with Drake de Kay, Aide-de-Camp in command of seven companies of the 20th New York, German Riffles, left Newport News on a reconnaissance. Just after passing Newmarket Bridge, seven miles from camp, they detached one company as an advance, and soon after their advance was attacked by 600 of the enemy’s cavalry.

The company formed to receive cavalry, but the CAVALRY ADVANCING deployed to the right and left when within musket range and unmasked a body of SEVEN HUNDRED negro infantry, all armed with muskets, who opened fire on our men, wounding two lieutenants and two privates, and rushing forward surrounded the company of Germans who cut their way through killing six of the negroes and wounding several more. The main body, hearing the firing, advanced at a double-quick in time to recover their wounded, and drive the enemy back, but did not succeed in taking any prisoners. The wounded men TESTIFY POSITIVELY that they were shot by Negroes, and that not less than seven hundred were present, armed with muskets.

This is, indeed, a new feature in the war. We have heard of a regiment of Negroes at Manassas, and another at Memphis, and still another at New Orleans but did not believe it till it came so near home, and attacked our men. THERE IS NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT.  The 20th German were actually attacked and fired on and wounded by Negroes.

It is time that this thing was understood, and if they fight us with Negroes, why should not we fight them with Negroes too? We have disbelieved these reports too long, and now let us fight the devil with fire. The feeling is intense among the men. They want to know if they came here to fight Negroes, and if they did, they would like to know it. The wounded men swear they will kill any Negro they see, so excited are they at the dastardly act. It remains to be seen how long the Government will now hesitate, when they learn these facts. One of the Lieutenants was shot in the back part of the neck, and is not expected to live.” End quote.

Let the record show during Lincoln’s un-civil war an estimated 1,000,000 black and white non-combatant Southerners were murdered by the union army.

From James G. Bates’ letter to his father reprinted in the 1 May 1863 Winchester Journal (Indiana). The 13th Hoosier Regiment was involved in operations around the Suffolk, Virginia area in April-May 1863 – “I can assure you father, of a certainty, that the rebels have negro soldiers in their army. One of their best sharp shooters, and the boldest of them all here is a negro. He dug himself a rifle pit last night [16 April 1863] just across the river and has been annoying our pickets opposite him very much today. You can see him plain enough with the naked eye, occasionally, to make sure that he is a “wooly-head,” and with a spy-glass there is no mistaking him.”

Indianapolis Daily Evening Gazette – 12 March 1863 refers to the 5 March 1863 fight around Thompson’s Station, near Franklin, TN. The 85th Indiana Volunteer Infantry reported: “NEGRO REGIMENTS IN THE REBEL ARMY – During the fight the battery in charge of the 85th Indiana was attacked by two Rebel negro regiments. Our artillerists double-shotted their guns and cut the black regiments to pieces, and brought their battery safely off. … It has been stated, repeatedly, for two weeks past, that a large number, perhaps one-fourth of Van Dom’s force were “negro soldiers” and the statement is fully confirmed by this unfortunate engagement.”

The most touching account I’ve read where blacks took up arms for the South while trying to protect loved ones both black and white is here. The Battle of Griswoldville, Georgia – The face off with General William T. Sherman!

“The story told here is not my story, rather retold exactly as related by a dear friend, the late Mr. Elgie Barker, who passed away on 28 December 1995 at the age of 78 years. Mr. Barker was a Southern Gentleman in the truest sense of the word, but more important to the story, he was by his own definition, a ‘Negro’ and a ‘colored man.’ While relaxed he reverted back to what I considered his true dialect, that of the Ole South Negro. But he could also speak in the modern context of our times when called upon to do so. The family cared for their totally disabled adult son Rochelle Barker!

I knew the family for about ten years or more prior to his death, and daily transported their son to various activities and medical appointments. On one such occasion a prolonged delay at the Barker residence gave us time to speak and it being a pleasant day, we did so. Every one being inside the house and the two of remaining outside and standing along side my large cargo size van, old Mr. Barker began to speak. “Thomas, I am gettin’ up in years – my time draws near. I have a story and I’d like to tell it before it can’t be told. I am a native of Georgia you know, but what you don’t know is my Grandpappy was a Confederate Soldier – died in that terrible war, fightin’ those Yankee folks. The story I want to tell you, won’t be found in no ‘White History Book.’ But it happen just the same!”

“When all the white folks went off to do the fightin’, only the women and the colored folks were left behind to do the work. We were treated good, not like them Yankee folks say now a days – it was alright. We took care of the plantation and saw to it the women were alright. We wanted to go fight too and not many of us colored folks got to go at first, but later many did. The fightin’ wore on and the victories turned to loss, as our boys began to loose ground. Finally the summer of 1864 came and rumors had it that the whole Yankee army was outside of Atlanta. Us colored folks got real concerned, because we heard that fella Sherman was killin’ and burnin’ everything in his path – killin’ women, children, colored and white alike. So some of us got together and went to the white ladies so as to say how we felt. We said, sooner or later this Yankee Sherman and his army is comin’ our way and we’ll all be doin’ some fightin’ and diein’ soon enough. We said, could we form what you white folks call a militia, so we would be ready. The ladies said alright, so we began preparin’ – we over heard all about such things from those white boys, before the war. So we chose us a Commander.”

“It wasn’t long in comin’ and we soon heard Sherman had burned Atlanta, killed all kinds of people and was now comin’ out the other side, headin’ this way. We rounded up such weapon as we could find, some were old revolutionary muskets left behind, machetes, pitchforks and even clubs. But still we had no fightin’ flag. All the cotton and wool was gone to the war, so we rounded up what rags that we could and made us one of them Confederate Battle flags out of them rags. The colors didn’t come out too good, but we had a flag. Come the day when we were fixin’ to march off to face down Sherman’s Army, we gathered in the town square, 300 of us. Raggiest army I ever did see. We’d be out numbered over 200 to one, but that’s alright, it was our homes and families too, and we’d fight to defend them. What a motley bunch we were, daring to face off with the mightiest’ army in the land.”

“Those 300 colored men and their Confederate Battle Flag sewed out of rags – Had I been alive back then, they would have had 301, because I would have been amongst them.” Ole Mr. Barker looked far way into yesteryear as he was telling his story, and he finished. “Before we left to face off with Sherman an elderly colored lady come up to our new commander and spoke to him. If’n those white boys couldn’t stop this fella Sherman, what makes you think you can? The ole colored commander paused while looking back at the lady then answered, “I don’t know about such things” he said “but if Sherman’s fixin’ to come through Georgia, he’ll have to come through us.” “Thomas,” he said, “300 colored Confederates marched off that day and face off with this General Sherman. Taken down as many of them Yankee soldiers as they could. Only three came back, and my grandpappy wasn’t among them that come back.”

Ole Mr. Barker still far away, he looked at me with glassy eyes and said to me, “these modern African-Americans like so many modern white folks, couldn’t cover one inch of the ground those colored Confederates stood on.” After hearing that story, I was deeply moved! I’ve never had to face those kinds of odds in peace let alone in battle and while so only men such as these can only talk of heroism. But these are heroes of the highest order and as for me, I’d build a monument as big as a house to these 300 brave Soldiers of the Confederacy. These men were in every respect Southern Gentlemen. Mr. Barker had one last remark before closing his story. “Thomas,” he said with deep emotion, “I’d give everything I own in this world if I could but hold in my hands that Confederate Battle Flag made with rags, that my grandpappy and those motley 300 men carried off when they face off with Sherman.”

The story you have just read as I said, is not my story, so I can only relay the story as told to me, beyond that each individual must each judge, for ourselves. As for me, based on the honor and integrity of Mr. Elgie Barker, I believe the story to be true. I was invited into the Barker home many times and once I was even asked to wear my Confederate Uniform, so their disabled son could see what a real Confederate looked like, since the son could not get out in order to attend the local reenactments. I even held a kind of humorous reveille on him one morning at the family’s invitation, and drafted their son into the Confederate Army, in which he found great joy. Lying across the mirror of his dresser was ever so carefully draped a Confederate Battle Flag and upon his dresser were several audiocassette tapes of Confederate Period Music.” End quote.

I doubt if the rhodes scholar led NAACP or the trilateral wolf led Urban League has the integrity to publish this entire piece: “DIXIE’S CENSORED SUBJECT – BLACK SLAVEOWNERS”

“In an 1856 letter to his wife Mary Custis Lee, Robert E. Lee called slavery “a moral and political evil.” Yet he concluded that black slaves were immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, socially and physically.

The fact is large numbers of free Negroes owned black slaves; in fact, in numbers disproportionate to their representation in society at large. In 1860 only a small minority of whites owned slaves. According to the U.S. census report for that last year before the Civil War, there were nearly 27 million whites in the country. Some eight million of them lived in the slaveholding states.

The census also determined that there were fewer than 385,000 individuals who owned slaves (1). Even if all slaveholders had been white, that would amount to only 1.4 percent of whites in the country (or 4.8 percent of southern whites owning one or more slaves).

In the rare instances when the ownership of slaves by free Negroes is acknowledged in the history books, justification centers on the claim that black slave masters were simply individuals who purchased the freedom of a spouse or child from a white slaveholder and had been unable to legally manumit them. Although this did indeed happen at times, it is a misrepresentation of the majority of instances, one which is debunked by records of the period on blacks who owned slaves. These include individuals such as Justus Angel and Mistress L. Horry, of Colleton District, South Carolina, who each owned 84 slaves in 1830. In fact, in 1830 a fourth of the free Negro slave masters in South Carolina owned 10 or more slaves; eight owning 30 or more (2).

According to federal census reports, on June 1, 1860 there were nearly 4.5 million Negroes in the United States, with fewer than four million of them living in the southern slaveholding states. Of the blacks residing in the South, 261,988 were not slaves. Of this number, 10,689 lived in New Orleans. The country’s leading African American historian, Duke University professor John Hope Franklin, records that in New Orleans over 3,000 free Negroes owned slaves, or 28 percent of the free Negroes in that city.

To return to the census figures quoted above, this 28 percent is certainly impressive when compared to less than 1.4 percent of all American whites and less than 4.8 percent of southern whites. The statistics show that, when free, blacks disproportionately became slave masters.

The majority of slaveholders, white and black, owned only one to five slaves. More often than not, and contrary to a century and a half of bullwhips-on-tortured-backs propaganda, black and white masters worked and ate alongside their charges; be it in house, field or workshop. The few individuals who owned 50 or more slaves were confined to the top one percent, and have been defined as slave magnates.

In 1860 there were at least six Negroes in Louisiana who owned 65 or more slaves The largest number, 152 slaves, were owned by the widow C. Richards and her son P.C. Richards, who owned a large sugar cane plantation. Another Negro slave magnate in Louisiana, with over 100 slaves, was Antoine Dubuclet, a sugar planter whose estate was valued at (in 1860 dollars) $264,000 (3). That year, the mean wealth of southern white men was $3,978 (4).” End quote.
